Welcome to the Pagoda, one of our great treasures and a long-recognized symbol of the city of Reading!

Sitting atop Mt Penn with a commanding view of the city, the pagoda has a rich and interesting history over the past century.

Now, at the age of nearly 100 years, we are celebrating her longevity with lots of new ideas and activities to make our venerable symbol even more of a gathering place for residents and visitors alike.

Come check it out and enjoy the view from the top!

Pagoda, Café and Gift Shop

On the 1st floor

The Pagoda will be open for New Year’s Eve from

10pm to midnight during a live broadcast on WEEU Radio

[WEEU Live broadcast is sponsored by WEEU Radio and Adams & Associates].  We are asking everyone to bring along their flashlights to shine on the Pagoda that evening – they’ll also need them to see – since the lights will still be out…then as the time draws near a countdown will occur.  At the proper time everyone will be asked to turn off their flashlights and the new Pagoda lights will come on – the Pagoda bell will ring and the fireworks will start!... and the Centennial Celebration is part of history!  A few hundred party noisemakers will also be handed out to the crowd

The Pagoda will be closed for January and February for the restoration work.  A reopening date has not been determined

If you are interested in renting the Pagoda for an event in 2009, please call 610-655-2584.  Thank you.

The official Pagoda centennial book is here!

“The Pagoda Centennial Tales…the lore and lure of Reading’s iconic landmark” is available for $20 at the Mayor’s Office in City Hall [2nd floor].  All proceeds of the book go to the Pagoda Foundation.   This almost 200-page book features the history of the Pagoda, over 100 stories and tales about the Pagoda and a section dedicated to the Centennial Celebration year.  It has numerous color photos and postcards.  We’re sure everyone will enjoy this book!
